About Northern Transitional Dog Rescue and Sanctuary

Northern Transitional Dog Rescue (NTDR) is an Indigenous founded dog rescue and sanctuary located in Northwest, Sk near Meadow Lake. Our mission is to build sustainable dog management plans on reservations, and in remote northern communities. We have a large 40 X40 heated building, with running water and electricity. We also have 160 acres where our vetted adult dogs free-roam on boundary collars and live peacefully in our pack on our sanctuary. We believe dogs are sacred, and they have always been an integral part of our lives as indigenous people. They helped us transport, hunt, and alert us to danger. When a community struggles, everyone struggles. When communities have these barriers removed, the dog population is reduced, community safety is restored and dogs remain healthy. We’ve identified what communities need to help manage and sustain healthy dog populations

Our sanctuary is located north of Meadow Lake, Sk near Dorintosh. We have a 160 acre sanctuary and a building for our dogs. We have 6 large kennels designed for dogs who need to quarantine, or for mom dogs who are nursing their pups. 

The rest of our dogs who are fully vetted get to free roam on our property with boundary collars. Each of our dogs gets a boundary collars to contain them to the property.
